See you around, Ajax

Kitsap County Sheriff’s K-9 Ajax is retiring.

The Peninsula Dog Fanciers Club has had a relationship with the Kitsap County Sheriff’s K-9 unit for many years. The deputies and their K-9 partners have provided security at our March All-Breed Dog Show and Obedience Trial and demonstrations at our Responsible Dog Ownership Day in September. Our contributions to the unit, from funding the purchase of dogs to equipment (including a custom-fit bullet proof vest for Ajax), are a rewarding way for us to give back to our community.

Deputies Hedstrom and Eberhard show the RDOD crowd Ajax’s custom vest that was purchased by PDFC.

We have enjoyed watching Deputy Joe Hedstrom and Ajax work as a team in a job they both clearly love. We at PDFC are sad to see Ajax go into an early retirement, but we know that he will be rightfully spoiled by Deputy Hedstrom and his family.

For more information about Ajax’s retirement, see the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office’s news release here.

Below are some photos of Deputy Hedstrom and Ajax showing off their skills at the 2011 PDFC Responsible Dog Ownership Day.
